We have such a good baby! She slept for three hours straight (four hours between feedings) twice in a row last night. Is she spoiling us? I finished feeding her at 6:30 last night, and she slept until 10 p.m. We put her down again, and she slept until 2:15 a.m. She ate again from 3:30 to 4 a.m. but then slept until 7. After John left for work, she and I dozed until 10. With a short nap today, I might actually reach eight hours of sleep in a 24 hour period.

Let's get this "blog" started
Caroline is ten days old now, and I've fallen behind already in recording her doings. I've had non-stop family-care since coming home from the hospital last Saturday. I'm going to miss being spoiled! Caroline is eating well (meaning A LOT!) and is sleeping OK (which, I guess, is the best you can expect from an infant.)
She had her first sponge bath last Sunday, June 5 and another one today. We're eager for her umbilical stump to fall off so we can give her a tub bath. I'm hoping she'll like that more than the sponge baths -- which she HATES!
We had our first trip out of the house Tuesday, June 8 to visit the lactation consultant. She confirmed what I knew, that Caroline is nursing very well, and she gave me some tips to ease my pains. Caroline did well on the car ride. We thought she'd fall asleep, but she was alert and quiet the whole ride.
Today we went for our ten-day pediatric check-up. She's totally healthy! She's nearly regained her birthweight, which she should do be the two-week mark. Her color is good, as is her muscle tone. We asked the doctor about the diaper rash she has developed, and he recommended we spray her bottom with water rather than wiping it. It seems we've been too vigorous with sensitive baby skin. :-( She hates these new diaper changes about as much as she hates regular diaper changes and sponge baths combined!
